|Our winery is nestled in the hills of Silverlake Washington.
The view of Mt St Helens provides a picturesque back drop
for the winery and is the inspiration for our name. We offer
an array of premium red and white wines made from grapes
grown in Washington State as well as a selection of fruit
and berry wines each of which is sure to please the palate
as well as the senses. Our wine maker, Gary, has been
making wine for about 25 years, the first 12 years in the
Santa Clara valley of California. Santa Clara Valley is a
designated American Viticulture Area (AVA). About 12
years ago Gary and his wife June moved back to
Southwest Washington where they grew up. Gary
continued making wine here in Washington, traveling each
year to eastern Washington to purchase grapes for his
hobby. As time passed and the hobby grew into a passion,
Mt St Helens Cellars erupted onto the landscape in the
shadows of the mountain.
|The owners, Gary and June, grew up in southwest Washington and relocated to Central California in the early
1970s. In the mid-1980s they planted a small vineyard of Chardonnay, Zinfandel and table grapes about 24 vines in
all. A couple years later the vineyard was expanded with 950 more vines, 450 Merlot and 500 Cabernet Sauvignon.
The next year the last phase of the vineyard was planted with 50 Sangiovese vines. By 1992 Wilder Vineyards was
|Gary & June's original Wilder Vineyard
in Santa Clara valley California. This
vineyard has produced award winning
Cabernet, Merlot and Sangiovese wines.
|Gary & June's first planting of Pinot Noir at Morning
Star Vineyard. The vineyard has been expanded
from the original 50 vines to 500 vines. The
vineyard produced a small amount of wine in 2013.
At maturity the vineyard will produce about 1 1/2 to 2
tons of grapes.
